Helicopter Flying in Spain
What’s the Flying like?
Experience flying over some beautifully scenic terrain with a fabulous mix of mountainous areas, beautiful coastlines and the historic city of Valencia.
We have specially chosen this airfield for its friendliness towards visitors, facilities and local attractions to make your ‘Flying Holiday’ as relaxed and exciting as possible. Flying will be available on ether the R22 or R44 and packages are available for both training and self -fly hire.
There are two main options for accommodation or you can choose your own. There is basic accommodation at the airport, it does however have facilities like a swimming pool, bar and restaurant on site. Our preference is to take rooms at the Refuge located only 1.3 km away, as we know there are three other fixed wing schools joining us and we intend to take over the Refuge. This accommodation has a swimming pool, barbecue, pine forest, playground, basketball and football field. There is a shuttle service provided between from the aerodrome to the refuge and back. The idea of this is that we can create a party atmosphere with like minded pilots and maybe persuade them to move to the dark side of helicopter flying! We also know an aerobatics pilot is coming down so that may be another opportunity for us.
The sport of jumping into a fast-flowing mountain stream and allowing oneself to be carried downstream at high speed, canyoning is available locally to those who enjoy extreme sports.
This famous wine region consists of ten municipalities. Its 40,000 acres of vineyard is home to approximately seven thousand winemakers giving an idea of the importance of the wine for this region.
The red grape variety Bobal is typical from this area and represents about 90% of all vines grown. More than a hundred wineries are part of the Control Board that controls, ensures, and promotes the quality
of these wines. These warehouses are of cultural and tourist interest, making it possible to visit a vineyard and try wine or an award-winning Valencian cava.
There are countless possibilities for cycling offered in the region. Dedicated cycle networks throughout the area offer you the opportunity to discover the dramatic landscapes at your own pace. Valencia cycling
offers challenges for all levels of ability.
Hiking and trekking around the Valencia region is extremely rewarding. Most of the major hiking zones are found in protected natural parks where you can find a varied landscape including mountain peaks, canyons,
forests, rivers and waterfalls. You may also find abandoned monasteries and medieval castles. Walking routes can easily be downloaded from the internet.
A vibrant, noisy city on Spain’s east coast, next to the Mediterranean, Valencia boasts amazing cuisine, a fascinating history, and stunning architecture and culture including several annual fiestas. Although Valencia is Spain’s third largest city, it is easily walkable, with a great mix of historic and modern, and plenty of greenery thrown in.

A very enjoyable flight. A birthday present for myself and friend and trial first flight. Hoping to do the flight down The Thames next year for our 40th and 60th birthdays!

Thank you all at Phoenix, SO much! I think it's finally sinking in for Matt exactly what went on yesterday. His maiden chopper flight was wonderful and he had a great day. Such a smooth flight. Really can't thank you enough for making the day so special

We both had a fantastic flight and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a lovely clear day which helped make the views over West Sussex stunning.
Having a flight in a helicopter is something I have wanted to do for years, it was great to enjoy such an experience.

Just a short note to express our thanks to all at Phoenix Blackbush, for a truly enjoyable experience. Our special thanks go to Simon Halfpenny not only for his cheerful sense of humour but also for his skill as a pilot, over the last 25 years I have flown with many pilots most being military or EX.& I can say that Simon ranks amongst the best that I have had the pleasure to fly with. Phoenix for me is now more than just a school to learn how to fly, it has a very homely feel to it, where students and the staff have become a family.

I really enjoyed my training with Phoenix Helicopters (even with the stresses of a tight budget and timescale!), and having now passed my PPL I will definitely be continuing my training and self-fly hire there.

Phoenix Helicopter Academy at Goodwood is a great place to learn to fly. Relaxed, yet totally professional. The instructors go out of their way to ensure you get the best training. Highly recommended!
Easy to find with excellent parking. All staff, including Toby, our pilot, were very approachable and happy to chat. Great atmosphere. A thoroughly enjoyable experience all round.
