Matthew Madden tackles the London Heli Lanes – July 2015
Route: Goodwood - London Heli Lanes H3 & H4 - Goodwood
Newly qualified private pilot Matthew Madden has kicked off his hour building in style. Matthew has completed a variety of cross country flights including land away flights to Compton Abbas and Kemble. After gaining experience on his first few cross country flights since passing the PPL, Mat decided to tackle the London Heli Lanes.
Matthew Madden completed his PPL in April and has moved onto phase two of the Professional Pilots Course. Phase two for Mat involves building his all-important flight experience. After completing a variety of cross country flights with friends and family, Mat decided to take his flying to the next level and tackle the London Heli Lanes.
The London Heli Lanes are specified helicopter routes through London’s incredibly busy airspace. The busy airspace means the RT (Radio) work on route can sometimes be intimidating. Also due to the descending approach paths leading to Heathrow and London City Airports, the routes are to be flown at specific altitudes. The RT and flight accuracy required makes the routes fairly challenging for PPL pilots however the incredible views make the hard work all worth it!
The pictures below show just some of the beautiful sights on London Heli Lanes. Well done Mat! Keep up the great flying.
