Dave Wright completes CPL (H) – November 2014

A big congratulations to Dave Wright for passing his commercial skills test. The skills test is the last hurdle in the long but satisfying journey to becoming a fully qualified commercial helicopter pilot. Well done Dave, good luck in your future flying!

The commercial flying course is 35 flight hours long but the journey to becoming a commercial pilot starts well beforehand. Dave like all aspiring pilots had to complete a total of 155 hours flight experience of which 50 hours must have been completed as pilot in command or PIC for those familiar with aviation jargon. As well as the required flight experience there are at least 13 commercial theory exams to complete. Once all these boxes were ticked Dave was able to start the flying course with in-house CPL instructor/ managing director Paul Andrews.

Completing the course this time of year meant it was a constant battle with the weather. However after completing the night section of the course Dave and Paul were able to make good progress building momentum going into the final commercial skills test.

After months of studying, hour building and training the day of Dave’s CPL skills test had arrived. Dave rose to the occasion demonstrating his abilities to examiner Mike Green. With the skills test completed Dave can now work as a commercial helicopter pilot anywhere in Europe. Well done Dave, good luck with your future flying.
