Michael Southouse - PPL (H), CPL (H), R22, R44, B206 - June 2011

Michael joined Phoenix Helicopters to complete his commercial helicopter pilot training after having carried out some of his hour building with us here at Goodwood as well as a type rating on the Robinson R44. Michael enjoyed some of the benefits of our structured hour building programme, with specific flights put on to help build his skill level with a view to taking his CPL training.

Michael embarked on his CPL training with us in the Robinson R22, working hard to get through the 35 hour course and going on to pass his CPL (H) first time.

We were then able to take Michael on as one of our commercial pilots, working hard over Goodwood Festival of speed. Michael was pleasure flying for us across the weekend, it is great to be able to offer work to commercial pilots that come through our training system. It can be tricky to get your first job as a new commercial pilot, but we make it our policy at Phoenix Helicopters to use our graduates where possible to give them a chance to build their experience in a commercial environment.
