Philippe Perreaux passes PPL (H) – March 2015

Congratulations to Philippe Perreaux for completing the Private Pilot’s Licence with Phoenix Helicopters down at the beautiful Goodwood Aerodrome. Philippe can now share his passion for flying by taking up friends and family whist he builds his flight hours.

Philippe Perreaux last year started a new chapter in his life which involved deciding to completely change career and train towards a commercial pilots licence. Philippe chose to start the Phoenix Helicopters Professional Pilots Course and has been conducting his training out of Goodwood Aerodrome in West Sussex.

The Professional Pilot’s Course includes all training required to achieve a commercial pilot’s licence. The first stage of the course involves training towards a private pilot’s licence. The private pilot’s licence, or PPL for short, requires a minimum of 45 hours flight training of which 10 hours have to be conducted completely solo. Philippe also had to complete nine theoretical aviation exams as part of the course. Sitting the exams in the Uk meant that the exam papers would be written in English which happens to be Philippe’s third language! With this in mind Philippe absolutely nailed the exams, scoring over 90% in almost all nine subjects.

Once all the flight training, solo hours and theory exams where completed it was time for Philippe to take the PPL Skills test. The PPL skills test is the final hurdle in the private pilot’s licence and involved Philippe demonstrating a variety of exercises to prove his ability as a pilot. Philippe passed with flying colours and is pictured celebrating below with examiner Paul Andrews after the flight.

With stage one of the professional pilots licence course complete, Philippe is now well on track to becoming a fully qualified commercial pilot. The next stage will involve Philippe hiring the aircraft to build his all important total flight hours. Well done Philippe, keep up the great progress!
