Success With Phoenix

Here you will find the stories of the students that we have had come through our training school. You will find a mixture of PPL (H), CPL (H) and type ratings amongst our students. We have a wide variety of students from all different backgrounds, just going to show that learning to fly helicopters, no matter what your ultimate goal is something that, with the right tuition, is within the grasp of most of us.

Oliver Kinnell - PPL (H), R22 - December 2011 - (Read More…)

Oliver is another of our students who is keen to go on and become a commercial helicopter pilot. He completed his PPL (H) training with Phoenix Helicopters on the R22.

Pat McLarry - PPL (H), R22, R44 - September 2011 - (Read More…)

Pat McLarry has been one of the fastest students to go through his helicopter flight training, completing his PPL (H) on the Robinson R22 and a type rating on the Robinson R44 in under four months.

Michael Southouse - PPL (H), CPL (H), R22, R44, B206 - June 2011 - (Read More…)

Michael joined Phoenix Helicopters to complete his commercial helicopter pilot training after having carried out some of his hour building with us here at Goodwood as well as a type rating on the Robinson R44. Michael enjoyed some of the benefits of our structured hour building programme, with specific flights put on to help build his skill level with a view to taking his CPL training.

Jonathan Symons - PPL (H), R22, R44 - June 2011 - (Read More…)

Jonathan is another one of our students who wanted to get through his training fairly swiftly, and he did just that. Going solo in the R22 in only 22.5 hours, was a massive achievement, and testament to his natural ability behind the controls. Jonathan benefited from the nice weather throughout the summer months and was able to spend most days here with us at Phoenix Helicopters, to complete his PPL (H) in less than three months. A very impressive achievement!!

Ken Brackwell - PPL (H), R22 - May 2011 - (Read More…)

Ken learnt to fly helicopters in New Zealand, while he was away on holiday, having returned to the UK he was keen to convert his license to JAA version to self fly hire here in sunny England.

Sean Larsen - PPL (H), R22 - November 2010 - (Read More…)

Sean is a fantastic example of how you can achieve your PPL (H) on a budget. Flying helicopters was something that Sean had always wanted to do, and so throughout his time studying at college and university he saved hard to ensure that he had enough money to get him through his PPL (H).

Alastair Lovell - PPL (H), CPL (H), R22, R44 - August 2011 - (Read More…)

Alastair started his training with us at Phoenix Helicopters, working through his PPL (H) successfully in 47 hours. He then went on to complete his R44 type rating as part of his hour building for his commercial license.

Laurence Tonna - PPL (H), R22 - September 2010 - (Read More…)

Laurence was another example of a student who wanted to get through his training fairly quickly, wanting to start his training in July and complete his PPL (H) prior to going back to university in September.

Stuart Russell - PPL (H), R22 - September 2010 - (Read More…)

Stuart started training with us with the ultimate goal of becoming a commercial helicopters pilot, something that he is currently working towards. Stuart began his training, working steadily through his PPL (H). Stuart passed his test successfully in 51 hours.

Kevin Piotrowicz - PPL (H), R22, R44 - September 2010 - (Read More…)

Well done to Kevin both for passing his PPL (H) and also later his R44 Type rating. Kevin is another one of our CPL potentials with him keeping momentum going towards achieving his ultimate goal of becoming a commercial helicopter pilot.
