Congratulations to Thom Thorpe for completing his helicopter private pilot’s licence. Thom is a regular face at our Blackbushe branch and has been working fairly intesively towards his PPL, having started flying in February 2016!
Thom has "flown" though the PPL course at an impressive rate having started his training in February this year. Working around a busy work life, Thom has used a lot of his spare time to take the ultimate challenge of training to becoming a qualified helicopter pilot, he has been flying from our Blackbushe branch with instructor Seb Powderham and Will Carder.
Thom is now the happy holder of a PPL(H), and licenced to fly an R22 anywhere in Europe, however it doesnt stop there! Thom has already started his Robinson R44 Type Rating so it should only be a matter of days before we report on his success yet again!
The standard PPL course consists of a minimum of 45 hours flight training, as well as 9 written examinations. With the PPL now under his belt, Thom can share his passion for flying, taking friends and family flying with him.
With an R44 rating on the cards and lots of fun flying planned for the rest of the summer, I'm sure this wont be the last we hear from Mr Thorpe and his flying adventures!
Congratulations Thom, Great flying.
